In the various industry working groups, we conduct long-term research together with partners from industry on key topics with central relevance for production.

Digital Machining

The industrial working group Digital Machining at the PTW of the Technical University of Darmstadt focuses on deepening the understanding of machining processes as well as the surrounding systems and production chain through a data-driven approach to increase the efficiency and quality of established manufacturing processes and develop innovative data-based business models.

The “Energy & Emissions in Manufacturing” working group integrates industrial practice and research to transfer practical solutions from research into industry. In this way, PTW and its partner companies are making a difference on the path to climate-neutral production.

Motor Spindle

The industrial working group "Motor Spindle" focuses on industry-related research on motor spindle systems. For more than 30 years, this working group has been conducting research on spindle bearings, rotordynamic issues, optimization and control of spindle operation, and clamping systems for high-speed applications.

Titan

The "Titanium" industry working group focuses on increasing productivity in the machining of difficult-to-machine materials for the aerospace industry. Optimization of process technology, process modeling and the development and analysis of new tool concepts are the goals of the working group.
