THANK YOU for being there!

With over 125 square meters of space, it is a place for creative makers to think, plan, implement and present.

A social area, with presentation options, whiteboards and various workstations, provides extensive options for flexible and creative collaboration in small groups. In addition, a workshop area provides modern and extensive equipment for the implementation of small craft projects. This includes, among other things:

  • Electrical workstation with soldering station and measuring technology
  • PC workstations with construction and design software
  • Various 3D printers
    • Bambu Lab H2D
    • Bambu Lab X1C
    • Ultimaker S5
  • Laser cutter with a 100W CO2 laser and a processing area of 100cm x 60cm
  • Extensive equipment for manual metalworking, incl. column drill, bench grinder, hand tools, various small electrical appliances (e.g. angle grinder, impact wrench, multifunctional tool).
  • Extensive equipment for manual woodworking (e.g. mobile circular table saw, orbital sander, router)

It can be used by students as part of student work and student assistant activities at the PTW as well as on defined dates for all students to implement their own private projects with prior registration. Appointments can be booked via our Moodle course, which is also used to announce future appointments and to provide further information.

Research with us for the production of tomorrow!

More than 70 scientific employees at the institute conduct research in the research groups Manufacturing Technology | TEC, Energy Technologies and Applications in Production | ETA, Center for Industrial Productivity | CiP and Management of Industrial Production | MiP. Our production-related test fields, equipped with representative production machines, supply systems and state-of-the-art data technology, enable innovative and practical research and the perfect environment for teaching and industry transfer.

Our vision is to make a sustainable contribution to shaping the production of tomorrow through pioneering research and innovation. In doing so, we focus on the three pillars of resilience, responsiveness and resource efficiency. To this end, we strive for excellence in our fields of activity, research, teaching and transfer:

  • In the area of research, we answer relevant questions using scientific methods. Our focus is on intensive dialog with industry in order to develop practical solutions and overcome the challenges of modern production.
  • In teaching, we not only impart basic knowledge, but also place a special focus on application. We specifically promote the problem-solving skills of our students in order to prepare them optimally for the challenges of industry.
  • Transfer forms the link between research and application. In close partnership with industry, we demonstrate current solutions to problems and qualify specialists and managers. Our expertise is available to companies to jointly implement innovative concepts and sustainably shape the production landscape.
