Management of Industrial Production

In global competition, German companies are increasingly confronted with a variety of changes. In particular, the efficient use of resources and the dynamisation of product life cycles represent essential challenges for manufacturing companies. In order to meet these challenges, transparent and efficient value-added processes are crucial to success. The research group “Management of Industrial Production” (MiP) focuses on process level innovations in production. The object of consideration are strategy, planning, production and service processes. The focus of the MiP research group is on research and industrial projects on the topics:

  • Integration of digital assistance systems
  • Data-driven value-stream and business model innovation
  • Active component and resource traceability

The individual research topics are aimed at the overarching goal of creating transparent and intelligent value-added processes. Industrial projects for production optimization and development of production strategies complete the portfolio. In addition, the group develops studies on key future fields of production. Recent examples include “Industry 4.0 – Potentials, Benefits and Good Practice Examples for Hessian Industry”, “Manual on Global Production” and “Future of Production”.

  • Benefit-oriented integration of active component traceability

Data-driven value-stream and business model innovation

  • Consulting and conception of benefit-oriented advanced analytics projects
  • Evaluation of business models with regard to the potential benefits of new technologies
  • Analysis of value creation systems for the implementation of lot size 1 using additive manufacturing and decentralized production planning and control systems

Integration of digital assistance systems

  • Analysis of value creation systems with a focus on possible applications of digital assistance systems
  • Integration of digital worker assistance systems

Efficient value creation

  • Development and support in the implementation of practical Industrie 4.0-solutions to increase efficiency
  • Identification of developments and trends in industrial production
